1. Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and 800 Business L.L.C-FZ, a company registered in the Meydan Free Zone under Licence No. 2647869.01 and trading as TaskRight ("TaskRight", "we", "us", "our").
By accessing or using the TaskRight website, mobile site, or any service we operate (together, the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
2. About TaskRight
TaskRight is an online matching platform that connects homeowners and residents in Canada ("Consumers") with home service providers ("Providers").
Providers appear on the Platform in two ways. Most Canadian listings today were built by us from public business information — including the business's own public Google Business Profile — before that business contacted us. Others are created by the business itself when it registers.
We do not verify that a Provider holds a trade licence, a professional certification or insurance, and we do not carry out criminal background checks. We do not perform the services ourselves, we do not employ the Providers, and we do not process payment for the services. If you are a business and you would rather not be listed, email hello@taskright.com and we will remove the listing.
3. Eligibility
To use TaskRight you must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract under the law of the province or territory where you live. Providers must additionally hold every licence, certification, permit or registration that their province or territory requires for the services they offer, and comply with all applicable laws for those services.
4. Our role — we are a matching platform, not a party to your transaction
The services offered through the Platform are provided by independent Providers, not by TaskRight. When a Consumer hires a Provider, a direct contract is formed between the Consumer and the Provider. TaskRight is not a party to that contract. We do not:
- employ, supervise or control Providers;
- guarantee the quality, safety, legality, timeliness or outcome of any service;
- handle payment for the services (Consumers pay Providers directly);
- issue invoices, receipts or warranties for the services.
TaskRight's sole role is to introduce Consumers to Providers. We do not verify Providers — see section 2 — and we take no commission on any job. Any dispute relating to a service must be resolved directly between the Consumer and the Provider. Section 12 sets out what TaskRight is and is not responsible for.
5. Consumer terms
Consumer use of the Platform is free of charge. Consumers may submit job requests, view Provider profiles, and contact Providers via the contact methods shown on the Platform.
By submitting a job request, you confirm that the details you provide are accurate and that you consent to TaskRight sharing those details, including the job address, with the Providers that request reaches. If you asked for quotes, those are the Providers you picked. If you made an instant booking at a fixed price, you did not pick anyone: we offer the job to verified Providers in your category and area, one at a time, and each one we offer it to sees the job and the address before deciding.
TaskRight does not guarantee that any Provider will respond, accept the job, or complete it on any particular timeline. We do not recommend any one Provider over another — match order is generated algorithmically.
6. Service provider terms
Providers who register on the Platform make the following ongoing representations:
- you hold every licence, certification, permit or registration required in your province or territory for the services you offer, and each one is current;
- everyone you send into a Consumer's property is legally entitled to work in Canada and is competent and authorised to perform the work;
- you carry appropriate insurance for the services you offer;
- the information, credentials, photographs and reviews you submit are truthful and belong to you;
- you will comply with all applicable federal, provincial, territorial and municipal laws, including consumer protection, employment, tax, privacy and occupational health and safety requirements;
- you will respond to Consumer enquiries in good faith and deliver agreed services to a professional standard.
Providers may be listed in a primary service category and up to two secondary service categories. Primary-category placement is priced at the full subscription rate for that category; each secondary category is priced at fifty percent (50%) of that category's rate.
7. Subscription billing (providers)
Provider subscriptions are billed in advance on a rolling monthly basis through our payment processor, Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. By starting a subscription you authorise TaskRight (via Stripe) to charge the payment method you provide for the applicable subscription amount at the start of each billing cycle.
TaskRight is not currently registered for VAT in the UAE, and no VAT is charged on subscription fees. If TaskRight becomes VAT-registered, we will notify Providers at least fourteen (14) days before VAT is first applied to a subscription.
We may offer a free trial period. A trial does not convert automatically, and no payment method is held during a trial. At the end of a trial, access to leads stops unless the Provider chooses to start a paid subscription. We will never charge a card that a Provider has not actively provided at the point of subscribing.
Subscription pricing is displayed at the point of purchase and may be updated at the start of any new billing cycle. If we change the price, you will be notified at least fourteen (14) days in advance of the renewal date; continued use after the renewal date constitutes acceptance of the new price.
If your Provider profile is listed in more than one category, the subscription amount is the sum of (a) your primary-category rate at 100% plus (b) each secondary-category rate at 50%.
8. Cancellation, refunds and termination
Providers may cancel a subscription at any time from the Subscription page in their TaskRight account, under "Manage subscription", or by emailing hello@taskright.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing cycle; the Provider retains access to Platform features until that date.
Subscription fees are non-refundable once a billing cycle has begun, except where a refund is required by applicable law or expressly offered by TaskRight in writing. Full refund details are set out in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
We may suspend or terminate a Provider account at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe the Provider has breached these Terms, falsified credentials, engaged in fraud, harmed a Consumer, or brought the Platform into disrepute.
8a. Payment disputes and chargebacks
If a Provider believes a subscription charge is incorrect, they agree to contact TaskRight at hello@taskright.combefore raising a dispute with their card issuer or payment provider, so that we can resolve it directly. Providers agree not to initiate a chargeback in respect of a subscription charge validly incurred under these Terms. Where a chargeback is raised without first contacting us and is later resolved in TaskRight's favour, TaskRight may charge a reasonable administrative fee not exceeding the costs actually charged to TaskRight by its payment processor in connection with that dispute. The Provider agrees to provide reasonable assistance and information in resolving any such dispute.
9. Acceptable use
When using the Platform you must not:
- submit false, misleading or fraudulent information;
- impersonate any person or business;
- post reviews, ratings or testimonials that are not genuine and your own;
- circumvent or attempt to circumvent our subscription payment;
- scrape, crawl, reverse engineer, or copy any part of the Platform other than as needed for normal browsing;
- upload any content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, or infringes any third party's rights;
- use the Platform to send unsolicited marketing communications to other users;
- use the Platform in any way that violates any applicable law.
10. Content and intellectual property
The TaskRight name, logo, trade marks, Platform software, design, text, graphics, and all other materials (together the "TaskRight IP") are owned by or licensed to 800 Business L.L.C-FZ and are protected by applicable Canadian, UAE and international intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any rights in the TaskRight IP to you.
You retain ownership of the content you submit to the Platform (job descriptions, photographs, reviews, Provider profile content). By submitting it you grant TaskRight a worldwide, royalty-free, sub-licensable licence to host, copy, display, reproduce, modify, translate and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the Platform.
11. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, TaskRight disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and continuous availability. We do not warrant that the Platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
We do not verify Provider credentials — see section 2 — and we do not guarantee that a Provider listing, or any content a Provider submits, is accurate or current at any given moment. We do not endorse or recommend any specific Provider.
12. What TaskRight is responsible for
TaskRight is an introduction platform. We introduce homeowners to service providers. That is the whole of what we do, and it is the measure of what we are responsible for.
The contract for the work is between the Consumer and the Provider. TaskRight is not a party to it. We do not collect, hold or process any payment for the work — the Consumer pays the Provider directly, on terms the two of them agree between themselves. We take no commission on any job, ever. The only money TaskRight collects from anyone is the monthly subscription a Provider chooses to pay us for access to leads, set out in section 7. TaskRight never charges a Consumer anything.
It follows that the Provider, and not TaskRight, is responsible for the work: its quality, safety, legality, timeliness and price; the conduct of anyone the Provider sends to a Consumer's property; holding every licence, certification, permit and registration their province or territory requires for that work; and carrying their own insurance. A claim about work done badly, done late, not done at all, or about damage caused while doing it, is a claim against the Provider.
TaskRight's own obligations are limited to operating the Platform: publishing Provider listings, passing a job request to the Providers selected, and handling personal information as described in our Privacy Policy. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TaskRight, its shareholders, directors, employees and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or business opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Platform.
Our total aggregate liability to any Provider arising out of or in connection with the Platform is limited to the subscription fees that Provider has paid to TaskRight in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits, excludes or varies any right, warranty, condition, guarantee or remedy that applicable consumer protection law gives a Consumer and does not permit to be limited, excluded or varied by agreement. In Ontario, the rights given by the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (or any statute that replaces it) apply despite anything in this agreement. If any part of these Terms conflicts with such a right, that part does not apply to the extent of the conflict, and the remainder of these Terms continues in force.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TaskRight and its affiliates, officers, employees and agents from and against any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with (a) your breach of these Terms, (b) your violation of any law or the rights of a third party, or (c) in the case of Providers, any service you perform for a Consumer introduced through the Platform.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in Ontario. The courts of the Province of Ontario have jurisdiction over any such dispute or claim, and you and TaskRight each submit to the jurisdiction of those courts.
TaskRight is operated by 800 Business L.L.C-FZ, a company registered in the Meydan Free Zone, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as set out in section 1. Choosing Ontario law does not change who you are contracting with. It means Ontario law, and not the law of any other place, is the law that governs this agreement.
If you are a Consumer, nothing in this section removes the protection of any consumer protection law of the province or territory where you live that applies to you whatever this agreement says, or any right that law gives you to bring your claim in the courts of that province or territory.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest version. Material changes will be notified to registered users by email or in-Platform notice at least fourteen (14) days before they take effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
